    Iguazu, Costa Rica and home

We made it home a few days ago after 9 fabulous weeks travelling around. Here are our last round of pics, as well as some videos:

    Iguazu, Argentina photos.

These are the largest water falls in the world and absolutely breathtaking.  They are located at the intersection of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. We saw the falls from both Argentina and Brazil. If you really want to get a feel for what it was like to be there: check out the videos that Oliver took of Iguazu.

    Costa Rica photos.

Gio joined us for the entire trip in CR, and Oliver's childhood friend Jed joined us for a few days, too. It was great fun having those guys along! We went to the Monteverde cloud forest where we went ziplining (ziplining means "hanging from a cord and clinging for dear life as you fly from tree to tree with nothing but more trees underneath you"), Volcano Arenal, which is an active volcano (sadly, it was foggy so we didn't see much, but we did go to the Tabacon Hotsprings, which is at the base of the volcano, and is essentially a hot tub water park for adults), and Tamarindo Beach, where we boogie boarded on near-perfect waves. It was a really, really fun and relaxing time and a great way to end our trip.

    Special surpise...videos!

Videos of the Boca Juniors soccer match we went to in Buenos Aires. The fans at the famous La Bombonera stadium are nuts! Also and as mentioned earlier, videos of Iguazu.

    Beautiful buildings and great haircuts

BA is a beautiful city - grand, European architecture mixed with a strong, urban vibe. Me gusta mucho. Check out some pics of our favorite buildings and street art (as well as one more soccer game).

Most people get haircuts, but when you get a really good haircut, what you're really getting is a haircute. Watch as Oliver goes under the scissors at a hipster BA salon. The result: a top notch haircute. Please understand that while Oliver has pretty decent tourist Spanish and can rent a room, order a meal and get us from points A to B like nobody's business, hair salon lingo is not exactly his forte. This was quite a leap of faith, but it worked out great! (So great, that when it was over, I got very jealous of Oliver's new sytle and desperately wanted a haircute, too. But alas, all the girls in the salon had cuts heavy on the bangs, and since a) I look terrible with bangs, and b) we didn't know how to say "no bangs, please" I decided to wait until we got back home).

    Buenos Aires and more

Purcell and Perlow surprised us at the last minute and joined us for nearly two weeks of our trip. It was awesome having friends with us! We had a great time with them exploring Buenos Aires, venturing into neighboring Uruguay, and exploring the mind-blowing waterfalls of Iguazu. Thanks for joining us, guys, and hope you had safe travels home (sniff, it was sad to say goodbye yesterday).

Argentina is famous for its beef, so you can rest assured that we at a LOT of grilled meat at a LOT of parillas (imagine a steakhouse/barbeque restaurant, with great local wine, yummy side dishes and unbelievable desserts). Oh, and it was all delicous, thanks for asking.

Now that the boys are gone, it's Oliver, me, a lot more meat to eat, and an extra week in BA! That's right, folks, in my last blog post when I squeeled with pleasure about how in love we were with BA I really, really, really meant it! We extended our trip by a full week so we can spend more time in this incredible city. It's like Paris meets NYC with a bunch of Latin flair. Our dollar is strong here, and the people here love living la vida loca - these folks stay out until 5am more often in 1 week than you and I do in 1 year (the dinner rush doesn't start until midnight on most nights).

    And now...the pictures!
Highlights include: a soccer game, a bike trip exploring the city, and Maya being surprisingly ungraceful ;)

We went to three cities: Colonia, which is a very quaint colonial town; Montevideo, the capitol, and a place where obsessive mate drinkers roam the streets (Mate is a kind of tea. Imagine 90% of the population of a city walking around with a thermos full of hot water in one hand and an oddly shaped cup with a straw in it in the other hand); Punta del Este, which is where fabulous South American jet-setters go to party and tan themselves. Because we are not the fabulous South American jet-set, we were there in the off season :)
Highlihghts include: eating lots of meat, and Oliver's birthday!

(Iguazu and more BA photos are coming soon.)

    Running out of superlatives

After several days in Bogotá we went up north to Cartagena, which is an old, famous city on the Caribbean surrounded by a wall (used to keep invaders from plundering it). That was beautiful, to say the least.
See pics here. This group also includes some photos from our last night in Bogotá.

Last week we got to Buenos Aires. Now, I know I've been excited about every place we've been to on this whole trip, and without taking one positive compliment or experience away from any place we went to before we got here, BA is AMAZING! My favorite place so far. For real!! I know I keep saying that, but it's true every single time! Photos of BA (and a short jaunt to Uruguay) to come.

And to make things even sweeter, guess who flew down here at the last minute to join us?
